One of my favorite patterns is
THIS one. Pattern
HERE. It is a striped hat with great square decreases. The colors speak to me as well as the streamlined but interesting style. I've been helping a fellow knitter with details on making a great hat like this so I thought I would share them with the group. This is a great project for knitters who want to get comfortable with knitting in the round and double pointed needs OR magic loop!
I'll start with the join. If you have never joined knitting for knitting on a circular knitting, check out this video:
JOIN
After you join the knitting, you will be knitting a stripe pattern. Since circular knitting builds rows on top of rows of knitting, you will get stripes that don't line up. A great way to get the appearance of perfect stripes is with a "jogless join". Check out this video:
Jogless Join
Once you reach the decreases, you will decrease until the stitches are too tight for your circular needle. You will need to switch to either double pointed needles or a long stretchy needle for Magic Loop. Here is a video demonstrating Magic Loop:

I hope you enjoy the hat! Thanks for letting me share and happy knitting!
