I've often thought that crocheters and knitters are some of the most generous people around. It is the nature of what we do. We give hours of our time and resources and create items that are often gifts for family and friends. We spend time teaching others to knit so we have groups to knit with and will often donate spare needles and yarn to the cause!
Do you want to knit to support our troops? I have a great resource for a pattern specifically for these brave Americans. The army can only provide so much and often the materials that they use don't last as long as they need to.
What better way to show appreciation than to send crochet/knitwear made by hand from high quality yarn? Basic yarn, such as Cascade 220, is long wearing for just this purpose. Many charities actually prefer blended yarn so take a look and see if you have stash that might be perfect for knitting for the Armed Forces!
