I've decided that my first sweater project for myself should be something wear on my anniversary. I've knit an adult sweater for a sister of mine and I knit children's sweaters for family and friends but I never seem to knit sweaters for me. I'm spending my anniversary (in April) in Lake Tahoe so not only will it be chilly, I don't have much TIME. Here is to hoping I my project done on time and that it will actually fit!

I've measured myself and I will measure my favorite sweater before I get started. I've bought the yarn and it is on it's way to my house. I hope I picked the right yarn. I'm substituting since the original project involved yarn with a bit of mohair and I don't react too well to mohair. I've chosen a merino as a substitute but hopefully it will work. I can't wait to swatch! I'll have to post some pictures as I make progress. Can I actually knit a sweater in two months? I mean without ignoring my children :)

So the pictures are sideways :) I have to say that this sweater was a special knit and I don't normally wear something so.... suggestive. It is sheer from the bustline up and I'm going to wear a tank under it so I photographed it with the tank under it! The tank actually hits at about the same line as the bustline when on so it isn't as off as it looks in the pictures. I wanted to wear undergarments with it (duh) and couldn't pull it off without something underneath! The buttons were a bit of a splurge only because they weren't least expensive that looked nice. The yarn has a nice multicolor to it (I dont' know that it photographed that well to see it) but the buttons have a similar irridescent quality that matches nicely. I love this sweater but I did add an inch of length to the yoke so that it wouldn't be too snug and it is JUST a hair long through there. VERY wearable though. WHEW on to something very SMALL for my next project!

I just looked at the date on my original post and it was been almost exactly 2 months. I'M FINISHED! I'll post pictures shortly and give you some notes (just for fun!) I'll never knit this pattern again and I didn't knit it exactly as written because the written instructions were NOT going to fit me. I do love the finished sweater and can't wait to wear it. We leave in 5 days so I cut it a little CLOSE! My buttons are crazy flashy but was part of the fun. The pattern used plain black shank buttons and mine more more like jewelry.

I have three bust darts left to go! This sweater is oddly balanced. It is wider at the bust than the hip. I wish I had realized that when I started knitting because I think I would have increased the hip measurement. I'M not wider at the bust than the hip. I wish they had more simiar measurements. There are a total of 13 bust increases so I hope the waist isn't too small either. I'm feeling a little nervious, can you tell? There is nothing I want to do LESS than donate this sweater to my sister :) After my last bust increase, I'm off to knit SLEEVES!

So I've discovered that webcam pictures aren't the best :) I've just started the bust shaping above the waist but HERE is a picture of the hip shaping on my anniversary sweater. 5 weeks until I have to wear it so I am on schedule to finish!

I'm at the waist! I'm knitting bottom up but that means I'm DONE with the hip shaping. I have some bust increasing to do after I finish the waist. So far, so good! I even ventured to put it on string and try it on. The hip size seems to fit! THANK GOODNESS!

I just ordered a new netbook with a webcam to make pictures easier and will get one! My old camera is a PAIN to upload...

Swatch was just a bit too tight. I did another today and it looks like size 7 needles it is! I hope to cast on tonight and DIG in!

The pattern uses an I-CORD caston that I have never seen before. I can't wait to see what that is about :)

I wish I wasn't such a tight knitter. I got my yarn, YEAH!, and I've swatched but I need to do it on a size larger needle. One more time... :)

Thanks. I'm worried it will end up something I have to wear AFTER my anniversary!
