"I haven't knit in years, but crochet all of the time. Tunisian is the best of both worlds. The appearance is like knitting, but the technique is more like crocheting. I really enjoy doing it, and it works up quickly."

"I haven't been able to find tunisian hooks in the craft stores, but they can be found on line. At this point, I am converting knit patterns to tunisian. It is a little bit of a challenge, but I love it. Hope you have a wonderful Easter."

"HI Melissa, No the hook is at one end, and the other end is capped, like a knitting needle. You can also purchase them with the extended end ( looks like a coil of wire) for working longer pieces than the conventional needle will hold."

Tunisian Crochet

I recently discovered Tunisian Crochet, and love it. It is a cross between knitting and crocheting and has many versatile stitches to afford multiple styles of fabric. I am currently teaching myself how to use this technique by making a prayer shawl for my (ex) husband. He is going through chemo and needs a warm wrap. I love to crochet, but it is often too loose a stitch to offer warmth. The Tunisian crochet grants a much closer stitch and the project is moving along quickly.

I am knitting a Lock Ness Monster for my daughter's teacher as a gift and I have learned at LEAST three new things including SHORT ROWS. That was mind blowing :)
