Happy St Patrick's Day!

Scoks for the big day! Great yarn, with a touch of bamboo so they are like butta!

Green Lacy Socks.

I bought these shoes to show off the socks. It helps that they are very comfortable.

Socks are awesome and not hard.  You have to just trust the instructions and follow them slavishly.  Good luck and have fun!  Having a knitters life is a lot of fun!

That sounds like a lot of fun to me!  I need to get my needle stash built up so that I can start all the yummy projects I see.  I am a new knitter as of January - so I dont have a whole lot yet.  I am so ready to try out socks!!!

Too Many Projects at Once!

Whoa!  I have too many projects going at once and that I do not like!  Some people I know will have many projects going at once, a sweater, a scarf, two pairs of socks two at a time.  But I am not this type of knitter.  I enjoy the process, very much, from start to finish.  I haven't gone over to the dark side of socks, two at a time.  I really enjoy the round and round zen of a sock from toe through heel to cuff.  The tiny needles required strain my hands, however and I need a project with…See More

How Much is Too Much?

And by that title I do not mean yarn.  I have tried repeatedly to go on the yarn diet, and work only out of the stash.  I actually gave away a few balls if you can believe that.  No, how much is too much for a skein of yarn?  I would love to hear opinions on that one.  I have discovered entrelac, the fun of the technique is using a yarn with a color repeat, rather than an ombre…

Lacy Socks

As much as I love the entrelac patterned scarf I'm working on, I am hating the lacy socks.  Ugh!  First of all, I hate the cast on, I like toe up socks and I usually use a figure eight cast on.  This is a Tunisian cast on.  Whereas I appreciate their struggle for democracy, I do not like their cast on.  Too tight.  Too hard.  The pattern itself has errors.  If the last round requires a YO on the last stitch and the next round requires a YO as the first stitch,  There's going to be a ginourmous… Continue

Entrelac Love

I am in the process of making an entrelac scarf and I love it!  Since I am largely a self taught knitter, I never learned what was hard or easy.  My second project ever was cabled, my third lace.   I don't have too many a-ha moments.  Well I had an a-ha moment!  Entrelac is a technique where you knit boxes that look interwoven.  I am using Bernat Mosaic because it has a very long color repeat, so the boxes are all slightly different colors.  I'm told Mosaic is the poor knitter's Noro.  Anyway,… Continue

New Year, New Resolutions!

Well, this year I've been making a point of capturing my projects on film and sharing them, and I am liking the results. Because I make so little for myself I've always felt like I'm not a very productive knitter.  And I love the process, but I am really into the end result.  I guess I did OK this year and I've even kept a few of the items I've made.  I made several baby sweaters, 4 pairs of socks and one large, one medium and one small blanket.  That along with some other assorted items,…

Hi, Patricia! Welcome to KnitIdeas.com. I am so glad that you joined our community. This is a great place to share ideas and post projects. I can't wait to see some of yours! I see that you are a sock knitter. I wish I was. I even took a class because I wanted to learn and somehow it just hasn't clicked!
