Baby - in Alpacas refers to the finest classification of Alpaca fiber. It is simply a measure of fiber density not fiber from young alpacas. Baby/Sport yarn - I found an article that said sport is the weight of the yarn (slightly heavier than finger…

I love it too! I use it for stuff for the kids because it is so hardy and inexpensive. My favorite was a Sugar and Cream in BRIGHT greens and blues. It made great leg warmers for my oldest when she took a dance class.

Anniversary Knitting

I've decided that my first sweater project for myself should be something wear on my anniversary. I've knit an adult sweater for a sister of mine and I knit children's sweaters for family and friends but I never seem to knit sweaters for me. I'm spending my anniversary (in April) in Lake Tahoe so not only will it be chilly, I don't have much TIME. Here is to hoping I my project done on time and that it will actually fit!

I've measured myself and I will measure my favorite sweater befor

Fixing instead of frogging!

I remember the short ugly scarf I made when I first learned to knit. It wasn't my best work but it was one of my proudest! The experience taught me that right after I learned to knit and purl, I needed to learn how to make corrections as I go.

My first few experiences with errors, it always seemed better to rip an item out and start over than figure out how to fix what I'd managed to screw up. That was until I started making anything bigger than a washcloth. With a little time and a WHOLE LOT o… Continue

In the Round Square Hat

One of my favorite patterns is THIS one. Pattern
HERE
. It is a striped hat with great square decreases. The colors speak to me as well as the streamlined but interesting style. I've been helping a fellow knitter with details on making a great hat like this so I thought I would share them with the group.… Continue

Knitting TIPS!

I was doing some research earlier today and I thought I would share my findings with the group. I love to knit purses and THIS is my favorite.

Here are a few tips when knitting something like this...

Mattress stitch: If you haven't used it, try it! It makes seams that look invisible. Once you learn how to do it, you won't use anything else! It really is a great way to sew panels together… Continue

Hi......I always find time to knit. My group at work knits baby hats for preemie babies at the local neo - natal unit among other things so our needles are always busy!!

Thanks!! I gave my dad a handmade sweater yesterday for his birthday, and he FLIPPED over it! He was so tickled that I'd made it, and just for him. I was thrilled, b/c you never know what kind of reaction you'll get. He was all "you CROCHETED this?!?" Yeah, Dad. I did. LOL!

I've had the pattern and yarn for my sweater for months, but just never the inclination. Now it's getting warm, and I want to wear it before summer, so I, too am working hard on it! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Good luck- I hope you get done before your anniversary!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My day full of activities prevented me from getting any knitting done. I did get some new yarn that is crying out to be worked into something. So after I finish up the shawl I'm currently working on it'll be on to a sweater jacket I think.

Thank you so much Melissa!! I am a fairly new knitter, self taught thru the internet and I love it!! Previously I have crocheted off and on since I was a child. I always liked the knitted fabric so much better than crocheting, so I am all eyes and ears with knitting. Again thank you for the warm welcome!
