"Lucia - one other point; if you buy the pattern, you may have more freedom for use of the product made from the pattern than a free pattern; whether free or purchased, the designer may still have rights to royalties that you may want to ascertain up…"

Ethics

I have a question about ethics.  I am thinking of starting my own knitting business and was wondering how appropriate it was to sale work done using free (or purchased) patterns from books or the internet.  Is this acceptable or should I be working on my own designs to make and sale?Thank you for the feedback!See More

About Me:
I have been a knitter since December of 2008. I took up knitting while going though radiation for thyroid cancer and rituxan infusions for rheumatoid arthritis...it was all I could do without losing my breath for months. Soon yarn and needles, and my bunny rabbits became a big part of me remaining sane through the treatments.
Favorite Yarn:
Chunky, colorful merino wool...ahhh!
Favorite Knitting Project:
Big needle afghans and funky scarves.
