I made my Granddaughter a RaggedyAnn Doll 2 years ago. I crocheted the doll, and her unremovable clothes, down to the shoes. If I could remember how to upload a picture I would put it on this group, so you could see me, her and the doll.

All her family raved about it. Only thing I don't like are the eyes. Should have used buttons, instead of felt (as was recommended ).

I get bored with repetition. One year  I made 17 watchman caps for my 17 grandchildren in ther school colors. never again!

Its been two years since I have crocheted for anyone. Last November I fell in my kitchen, breaking my right wrist, and the back of my Humerous Bone, on the same side. No surgery, but I had 6 months of physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Before that it was the OsteoArthritis that kept me idle.

Recemtly I crocheted one of those dresses for the liquid soap bottles. Its cute, but boring. I like to be challenged.

I tried the Amigurimi Toys, but so far have not been pleased with the outcome.

the people I have crocheted end up misshapen, I think i need to use a smaller hook, because the stuffing is sticking out. I am a afghan person, but I can't crochet for too long due to the arthritis n my hands, so trying, to make things that are smaller.
I agree i tried Amigurimi toys and they just didn't look like the picture.
I love amigurumi dolls. I agree that sometimes they don't turn out as nice as the picture that comes with the pattern. But I have also seen some beautiful amigurumies made by novice crocheters and knitters. I think it depends on how clear the pattern instructions are written. On the other hand I also believe that everyone's strengths and weaknesses are what makes each project unique. Hope you will try to make another one soon.

Oh, for the eyes I use safety button eyes on everything that is child related and googly eyes on the rest. Have fun.

I almost never use the size hook called for in the pattern. I'm always adjusting. I think another biggie with toys and amigurami is the yarn. You need a nice smooth finished yarn... I don't mean that it can't be fuzzy but a yarn where the individual twisted threads don't show. For example, and I'm sorry Vanna but that Vanna White yarn is miserable stuff. You can see every thread in the twist even after something is finished and it's constantly splitting on me when I work with it. Hate the stuff. (Again, sorry Vanna but it be true.)   I want to try thread on some amigurami patterns.
