i just started my 1st sock on double circ needles but i keep laddering how do i stop laddering in this method?i can on dpns or atleast not be as noticeable these on my circs are huge gaps.
That's exactly how I do it. Since I started, I have never had a ladder again. I am addicted to socks and now that everyone knows I make em...everyone asks for them. My favorite part about doing it on circulars is that the needles don't fall out. With little kids and a hectic scheduled, I take my socks everywhere. I don't think I would ever finish if I was on DPNs.
Hi Kate Moorman, I am new here but I love the socks!!! When you start the next stitch on the next needle, just give the yarn a little tug before you start the stitch. It should tighten the gap/ladders between the needles. Just a thought, can you go to three circs? It mostly cuts out the tug I need to give between needles. Hope this helps you.
I have an answer for you. I seen it on the show Knitty Gritty that was on HGTV. The lady was showing how to knit socks and how not to get the laddering effect. She said when you go from one needle to the next needle to give your yarn a little tug to tighten it. And it should not happen again. It does work because I had that same problem and it works!
