I have not spun yet, but it is something I have been wanting to do. I have decided that it is one of my New Year's resolution. I have an alpaca farm nearby, so all I have to do is get the right equipment and try to get started. I have seen it done enough times that I understand the process, I just need to try to put it into practive.

I just finished spinning some very soft baby alpaca (cria). Oh my it was soft spinning and is so soft as a yarn. I need to spin at least one more skein (maybe 2), what a sacrafice I'll have to make to spin more of this soft stuff ;P.

My neighbor gives me Romney raw wool. I hand wash it, card it with my drum carder, and spin it with my Majacraft Little Gem. It always gives me a sense of accomplishment to do the whole process.

At the moment, soft english tops, blues faced leicester and ultra fine merino, repectively....

I have been spinning for about 4 years now. Entered some of my spinning in the county fair and got a red ribbon. I'm pleased with the red. I have spun a lot of different fibers since I started. My favorite fiber to spin though is still sheep.

A little advise for new spinners. Start with sheep wool, while alpaca and llama are nice fibers they are not the best to learn with.

I hope to learn a lot from you all!

Not spinning yet, hope to get a wheel or a drop spinner for Christmas. Friend has given me a bunch of llama wool that I am sorting through now. I can't wait!

I have been out of town...on the east coast looking for new fiber inspirations. So far very little out here in the way of local shops. I am surprised!

Does anyone post here anymore? I think I found the pattern I want to use once I've spun my alpaca/silk blend. Both the Haruha and Leaf Lace scarves are gorgeous. This may inspire me to finally take a knitting class from a lady in York, NE. She raises Alpacas and Angora rabbits.
