I don't believe ripples require decrease stitches. They are skipped stitched that get that angle. Have you checked out Crochet Pattern Central for free patterns? Also, there are links to tutorials on there as well as tons on You Tube.
so basicly i just do the stich half way and continue from what im reading? same with treble i just do it until the last yarn over but do yo twice and go for other stitch?
Yes, I agree. I've never decreased or increased stitches for the ripple afghan. I skip two for the "dip" and 2sc (dc, tc) in one stitch for the "crest". The pattern I've attached is a free pattern from "Free Patterns.com". Hope you like it!
Try Youtube, you can find just about everything on youtube. I have perfected some of my stitches from there vids.
I am with everyone else on their answers, I have never decreased on a ripple. 3 in one on top and skip 2 going down. Much easier blanket do do and I have made many a ripple in all sizes. But the answers on how to decrease are also right. Good Luck
There is a book/kit that is titled "I Taught Myself Crochet" that has GREAT illustrations along with patterns and even accessories (hooks etc). Well worth the $9.99!!!
I love that the book you suggested comes with accessories. I have a few hooks but I never seem to have the "right" hook. Thanks for the recommendation, I never know which ones are any good!
If you are talking about a zig-zag type of pattern, I am working on a blanket from a pattern of one that my grandmother made. After my first chain, what I do is dc x6; then dc x3 in the next (7th) stitch; then another set of dc x6; then skip 1 dc, dc in the next stitch, skip 1 dc. I repeat this all the way down to complete the zig-zag pattern. Of course, you will have to plan out how many stitches will be needed in your original chain so that your blanket ends evenly. Hope this helps!
check out the LION brand yarn web site, they give all kinds of help with stitches and free pattrns for knit or crochet
lion brand is the site im using but the ripple doesnt ripple it straightens out
The ripple stitch would ripple up if you had skipped two stitches at the "bottom" part. That might explain why the blanket is straightened out instead of rippling.
Trying to think why you would want to use a decrease stitch in double crochet - at the bottom of the ripple - you would skip two (or 4 stitches depending on the pattern) that is considered as decreasing -- since you increase at the top of the ripple.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong?
