Welcome to the first KnitIdeas knitalong!

We will be knitting HATS for the month of October. I encourage each of you to choose your favorite hat pattern or one that you have been eyeing but I am supplying two hats for suggestions. One is great for a beginning knitters and the other includes intarsia for those who are more advanced.

For now, all you have to do is choose your pattern and pick out your yarn and needles. We will begin Thursday, October 1st, and you can start your project anytime afterwards. The knitalong will close on October 31st.

The following patterns are a great place to start but AGAIN, I encourage you to knit any pattern of your choosing. The purpose of this knitalong is to get to know one another. If you choose not to knit a hat, JOIN US ANYWAY! If you beginners need a hat that is knit flat and seamed together, let me know! HATS:

Beginners hat:

Intermediate hat:

Lets have fun and get to know one another. Post your project as you knit or finish your hat and show it off. It is up to you. I encourage everyone posting to include what type of yarn you are using (mystery stash is acceptable) and who will receive your hat!

Congratulations on the new grandbaby! That is really exciting. I can't wait to see the hat! I"m sure it is the first of MANY grandma made knits for the baby :) I love babies in handknits!
My hat is finally moving along! I'm sure I'll finish it by Halloween! I have about three inches done and the next couple of days off! Now I just have to hope it fits. I'll take a picture and post it soon!
I've decided to make two different hats so I have the baby hat going and a hat for an adult going as well. Lots of work done, still lots to go on both. hope to have them done by end of month.
Very cool! I'm already ready to switch to double pointed needle so hopefully I finish mine too! Good luck :)
It looks like I have a week to try this! I have to learn how to do bobbles first, though. Wish me luck!
Hi, I,m in. I love to make hats on my loom. I am going to stretch myself and see if I can make something just a little different. Happy knitting to all!
My hat is complete!!!! I've never blocked a beret so wish me luck on not ruining it and then I'll have a pic!!!! I'm so happy to finish before Halloween for my daughter's costume. The jogless join is AWESOME and the stripes line up really nicely! WOOHOO!
I'm shocked, but my hats are complete too!!! I'll post pics of them today after I do some homework and whatnot.
Here are my hats for thsi Knitalong...The one on the left is a baby hat for my Grand daughter and the one on the right is one for me

They came out great! I haven't had a chance to post mine yet...the digital camera can be a little tempermental :) I love your little purple hat just because it is so tiny and adorable! Is that a button on it? VERY cute :)
Yes that's a button on the baby hat. When I get her booties done, they will match with a purple butterfly button on each. I can't wait to get them done.
The little sheep hat is the most adorable thing I have seen for some time - and for all you tea drinkers out there - can be turned into a tea cosy quite easily - I know my Aunt would LOVE it so that is what I plan to do with it.
