Kids patterns

I'm looking for a really fun hat/scarf/mitten pattern to make for my 5-year-old granddaughter and am not having much luck. She has such a cute personality that this needs to be something really different, not just a small version of what I'd make for her mom. Any suggestions?

Hi, try the raverly site or google cupcake hat, kitty hat, frog etc. There are a lot of patterns and ideas, search for free patterns.

What kind of personality does she have? Is she into everything pink? Does she like animals? I have a couple of young girl relatives that I knit for, and they are far pickier than any adult. The good thing about them though, is that I can just ask them what they want and neither of them are shy about putting in orders! ;)
