I wanted to knit a pair of socks for my sister-in-law, but learned that she is alergic to Wool. Is there a good quality sock yarn that is not wool and also doesn't cost alot out there??

Any help would be appreciated.

Cascade Fixation is a great cotton yarn. I have knit a lot of socks from that yarn. It is $3. to $5. a ball. It take a ball for ea. sock.
I have found it online and also at LYS's.
The Bamboo yarn sounds great, is it only available online or do some LYS's carry it?
Thanks for the heads up on the bamboo sock yarn. I went into that site & ordered some. A knitter can't have to much sock yarn ;-)
Well, I do go into the LYS more than I should. I teach for them so I do have a little of an excuss. Yes I did get more than one ;-). I also ordered a beginner qrochet book from them.
I have a lot of sock yarn because socks are my thing. I will post them when I get them off of the needles. I think I will make that my signature ( Knit from your stash) LOL

Knit from your stash ;-)
Florence
what is LYS?
Sorry, LYS is 'Local Yarn Shop'.
I'm so glad that someone suggested the bamboo sock yarn! It is great stuff.

I actually second the Cascade Fixation as well. If you have never used it, it has "stretch". It is really incredible. You knit up the sock and then it stretches much like those "magic mittens" you can buy anywhere. You know, the tiny ones that fit everyone. Fixation does something really similar to this. You get a great fit because of the stretch conforming to your foot.
