Do any of you have a favorite yarn to work with? There are yarns I always seem to use (I LOVE you Cascade 220) but I see other yarns and wonder what they are like. Since it isn't economical to BUY them all and swatch until my heart is content, I wondered if you have a favorite yarn you have used and enjoyed :)
I will start. I LOVE Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky. I reserve it for special projects that usually take just one or two skeins because it can be a little pricey for an entire sweater.
I love it too! I use it for stuff for the kids because it is so hardy and inexpensive. My favorite was a Sugar and Cream in BRIGHT greens and blues. It made great leg warmers for my oldest when she took a dance class.
I love Lion Homespun, because it always stays so soft and comforting once it is made up. I use a pattern for a prayer shawl that calls for #13 round needle, and then I make the same pattern in Plymouth Dreambaby D.K., using # 7 round needle, and
I love the Carson Simply Soft collection, its worsted weight but soft as alpaca and its rather cheap for bigger projects. lol I should know im crocheting my daughters blanket, not small.
My favorite hat EVER is made from Simply Soft. My favorite thing about it is that I toss it in the wash and it comes out looking pretty good. Mine was a "tweed" line that I don't see around anymore...
For that 7 years I have been using alpaca yarn. I love the softness while working. Stays solid and suri really drapes like silk as well as adds the softness and warmth.
Knit Picks also has great collections you can buy all at once to get like 25 colors in each group. and usually two balls of each color for big projects. Its $40 a batch but you get enough yarn to last for a few months lol.
I love Caron yarns,. I know that Knitpicks and their fav deals but with Caron I can get a pound for 3.99 on the website and if I buy more I can get it at 2.99, I love the softness and it blends well with another acrylic yarn with a harsher feel like read heart or burnett.
